Create a digital product

Build a digital product on Insy — name, description, pictures, product type, and the one to five priced options buyers choose between.

A digital product is one page with everything a buyer needs: what it is, what it looks like, and the options they can buy. This page covers the product itself; the prices live on each option, covered in Choosing a price model.

The basics

Name it

Up to 200 characters. Make it the thing a buyer would search for — “Notion Finance Template”, not “My product v2”.

Pick a web address

Every product gets a short link of the form insy.io/@yourusername/your-slug. The slug is the last part — 2 to 25 characters, lowercase, no spaces. Choose something short and stable; it’s what you paste into posts and bios.

Write a description

Up to 2000 characters of what the buyer gets and who it’s for. This is the main sales copy, so lead with the outcome.

Add pictures

Up to six images, plus a separate avatar picture that represents the product in listings. Portrait images at roughly 1000x1500 px look best. One image can be marked as the main one shown at the top of the page.

Choose a product type

The type tells buyers what shape the product is and unlocks the right features behind the scenes. There are seven:

Type Use it for
Ebook A book or PDF guide
Course A multi-part program or lessons
Video One or more video files
Audio Audio files, a podcast bundle, music
Document Templates, worksheets, notes
Consultation A booked one-to-one session (see below)
Other Anything that does not fit the above

You also pick a category (the topic) and, optionally, a language.

Add one to five options

Every product needs at least one option to buy and can have up to five. Insy calls these variants — one thing a buyer can pick, like “Basic / Pro / Bundle”, or a single “Full access”.

Each variant carries:

  • A name and description — name up to 100 characters, description up to 2000. This is what the buyer reads on the option they’re choosing.
  • A feature list — short bullet points, each with a title (up to 100 characters) and a line of detail. Use it to show what this option includes and how it differs from the others.
  • The content files — the actual files the buyer receives after paying: the ebook PDF, the videos, the templates. (A consultation variant uses your availability instead.)
  • A price — every variant is priced on its own, and can use a completely different price model. See Choosing a price model.

Before it goes live

Building the product doesn’t publish it. When you’re ready, flip it to published — but a product with any paid option can only publish once you’ve connected a Stripe account that’s fully set up to take charges. A product where every option is free can publish without one.

The details of that, and how buyers actually pay, are on the next page.
