Affiliate program

How to set up an affiliate program on a community or product, what the two commission rates mean, how a referral is attributed, and how commissions get paid out.

An affiliate program lets other people earn a cut of the sales they send you. It hangs off a single community or product — one program per item — and the commission comes out of your side of the sale. The buyer pays the same price either way.

This page is written for the creator running a program. If instead you want to promote someone else’s community or product, skip to being an affiliate.

Create the program

Open Affiliate program in the sidebar of the community or product you want promoted. The first visit opens a short setup wizard.

The two rates, and who pays them

• The percentage is taken from the full payment amount, and rounded down to the cent. A rate that works out to zero on a given payment records no commission at all.
• You pay it, the buyer does not. The affiliate’s share is added on top of Insy’s own platform commission in the fee deducted from the sale — see Understanding fees. Nothing is added to the buyer’s price.
• Commissions are recorded and transferred in PLN.
• The rate that counts is the one saved on the program when the payment completes. Editing a rate does not rewrite commissions that were already recorded.

Editing and pausing

Settings holds the program status toggle, the name, the description and both rates. The Launch / Pause button in the page header does the same switch in one click.

There is one program per community or product — a second attempt to create one is rejected with “Program already exists” — and no way to delete a program once it exists. Pausing is the off switch.

How a referral is attributed

Refunds reverse commissions that have not been paid

If a payment is refunded, any commission on it still sitting as pending is reversed: the amount comes back off the affiliate’s total, and reversing a first-purchase commission puts the referral back to unconverted — so their next payment would earn the first-purchase rate again. A commission that has already been paid out is not clawed back.

Getting affiliates on board

• The marketplace is the main route. Every active program is listed at Affiliates → Marketplace for signed-in users, with the commission split, the cookie window and the member count. The category filter there works off community categories only, so a product program is not reachable by category.
• The signup link button in your affiliate page header copies a recruiting link, and the two versions do not behave the same. On a community it copies https://insy.io/subscriptions/<slug>?affiliateProgram; a visitor who is not a member is forwarded on to /communities/<slug>?affiliateProgram, which opens the affiliate sign-up dialog. On a product it copies https://insy.io/p/<slug>/a, and no route answers that path — the link is dead, so send people to the marketplace instead.

What you can see about your affiliates

The affiliate page shows six figures: total affiliates, active affiliates, total conversions, conversion rate, commissions paid and commissions pending.

Below that sits a Top performers list and a paginated table of every affiliate with their leads, conversions and earnings — click a row for that one affiliate’s detail.

Paying commissions out

The conditions a payout has to satisfy:

• First-purchase commissions are locked for 30 days from the moment they are earned. Recurring commissions carry no lock and are eligible immediately.
• The minimum payout is 100 PLN of eligible pending commission. A payout below that is rejected.
• The affiliate needs a connected Stripe account, or the transfer has nowhere to land.
• Your affiliate balance has to cover the amount. The affiliate’s share of each completed card sale is held against your Stripe account, and the transfer draws on that balance.
• Payouts are created against a community. The payout call takes a community, so there is no equivalent path for commissions earned on a product program today.
