title: Pricing plans and how members pay
description: Set the price for your community, choose monthly or lifetime access, offer more than one plan, and understand how renewals and reminders work.
---

A plan is one way to buy into your community: a price, a payment method, and whether access renews
or is bought once. Every community needs at least one. Start with a single monthly price and add
more later.

## Currency and price

Community prices are in **Polish złoty (PLN)**. You type the price in złoty, not grosze — `49` means
49 zł. A plan costs **at least 10 zł**; above that, price how you like.

## The two shapes of access

<CardGroup cols={2}>
  <Card title="Monthly" icon="repeat">
    Access lasts a month and is meant to be renewed. The usual subscription.
  </Card>
  <Card title="Lifetime" icon="infinity">
    Bought once and kept forever. No expiry, nothing to renew.
  </Card>
</CardGroup>

You also choose **how the buyer pays**: by card, by BLIK, or with crypto. That choice changes what
"monthly" means — the one genuinely confusing part, covered below.

> **Other billing periods exist**
>
> The pricing editor can technically bill daily, weekly, monthly or yearly, but for a Telegram
> community monthly and lifetime are what nearly everyone uses, and what this page assumes.

## How renewals actually work

Whether a plan renews **by itself** depends on the payment method, not the word "monthly".

- **Card, monthly** — a real subscription. The card is charged automatically each month and access
  keeps rolling. If a charge fails, the subscription goes *past due*: the member is notified, and if
  it's never fixed the membership ends and they're removed from the group.
- **BLIK or crypto, monthly** — access lasts a month, but nothing charges the member again (BLIK and
  crypto are one-off payments). As the month runs out the member is reminded to pay for the next
  one; if they don't, access lapses and they're removed. Think of it as *manual renewal*.
- **Lifetime** — paid once. Never expires, sends no reminders, never removed for lapsing.

> **Expiry reminders are automatic**
>
> For any membership that doesn't renew itself, Insy reminds the member during the final stretch
> before expiry, so a lapse is rarely a surprise. The mechanics are in
> [Managing members and expiry](/communities/members).

## Offering more than one plan

You're not limited to a single price — a common setup is a monthly plan alongside a lifetime one, or
a cheaper and a premium tier. Create several plans when you build the community, or add more later
from the plans screen.

- **Order and highlight.** You control the order buyers see plans in, and can mark one as featured
  so it stands out as the recommended choice.
- **One-time plans can be bought several terms ahead.** For a one-time (non-card) plan you may let a
  buyer pay for several periods at once — useful for "pay for six months up front".

## Editing and deleting plans

You can rename a plan, rewrite its description, and turn it on or off any time. Changing the
**price, currency, or billing period** is where the important rule lives:

> **Once a plan has buyers, its price is locked**
>
> As soon as anyone has bought a plan, you can no longer change its price, currency, or billing
> period — only its name, description, and whether it's active. This protects existing members from
> having their deal changed. To sell at a new price, **create a new plan** and switch the old one off:
> members on the old plan keep their terms; new buyers get the new one.

Deleting works the same way:

- A plan can only be **deleted** if no membership has ever used it. If any member — active or past —
  is tied to it, deletion is blocked and Insy tells you how many are using it.
- To retire a plan that has buyers, **deactivate** it instead. It disappears from checkout, stops
  taking new buyers, and existing members are untouched.

## Before any of this takes money

Setting a price doesn't by itself let you get paid. To receive money you must:

1. **Connect a Stripe account** to the community and finish Stripe's onboarding.
2. **Fill in your business and invoicing details** — including your NIP and, where it applies, your
   VAT rate — so invoices issue correctly.

Until Stripe is connected and onboarding is complete, your plans exist but no checkout completes.
You can check the community's payment status on its settings screen any time.
